ar > rajatá in other East Indo-European Languages (1)
Turner’s A Comparative Dictionary of the Indo-Aryan Languages says Sanskrit word rajatá means “silvery and silver.” He also presents the cognates of rajatá in other East Indo-European languages and dialects:
Pali rajata-; Prakrit rayada-, rayaya-; Sinhalese ridī; Maldivian (dialect of Sinhalese) rihi; Ashkun arū́, úrə; Waigalī urḗi; Kati ŕṳ̄, arṳ̄; Prasun urǘ; Gambīrī wurṓ; Kalasha rāwa; Rumbūr (dialect of Kalasha) rūa.
All these cognates of rajatá originate from the Tamil root ar.
