ar > arká¹ in East other Indo-European Languages (6)

     Turner’s A Comparative Dictionary of the Indo-Aryan Languages says Sanskrit word arka1 means “flash, ray, and sun.” He also presents the cognates of arká¹ in other East Indo-European languages and dialect:

Pali and Prakrit akka; Maithilī āk; Sinhalese aka, vid-äki; Sindhī aku; Lahndā akk; Awāṇkarī (dialect of Lahndā) ak; Panjābī akk; Gaṛhwālī and Kumaunī ā̃k; Nepāli āk; Hindī āk, ākh; Mārwāṛī āk; Gujarātī āk, ākṛɔ; Sinhalese aka.

All these cognates and the following words related to arká originate from the Tamil root ar.
