Pali ajjuna (1)
According to Davids and Stede’s Pali-English Dictionary, Pali word ajjuna refers to “the tree Pentaptera Arjuna.” It is linguistically related to Sanskrit arjuna, raj; Greek ἀργός (argós) α῎ργυρος (a῎rgyros); and Latin argentum. It traces its origin to the Tamil root ar through the transformation of ar > ra > rañj > ajjuna.
