ar > ru > rudh/ruh > rudhirá in other East Indo-European Languages (1)
Turner’s A Comparative Dictionary of the Indo-Aryan Languages says Sanskrit word rudhirá means “red, bloody; blood,” and it is derived from the root *rudh- (red). He also provides the cognates of rudhirá in other East Indo-European languages:
Pali rudhira-, ruhira-; Old Gujarātī ruhira, rahira; Sinhalese hurira, urira, rihiri, rīri.
All these cognates of rudhirá originate from the Tamil root ar.
