Pali amha (amhan) (3)

In the Pali-English Dictionary, Davids and Stede say Pali word amha (amhan) means to “a stone,” and is linguistically related to Sanskrit aśman. It is an offshoot of Tamil akku through the transformation of akku > aṡ > áṡman > amha (amhan). The following words, related to Pali amha and amhan, also originate from Tamil akku.

amha-maya and amhan-maya, made of stone, hard.
