   According to Davids and Stede’s Pali-English Dictionary, Pali word rādheti means “to please.” It traces its origin to the Tamil root ār, through the transformation of ār > rādh > rāddhá > rādheti. The following words, related to Pali rādheti, also originate from Tamil ār.

ārādhaka, successful, accomplishing or accomplished, undertaking, eager; pleasing, propitiating. ārādhana, satisfying, accomplishing; satisfaction, accomplishment. ārādhanīya, to be attained, to be won; successful. ārādheti, to please, win favour, propitiate, convince.
