Clough’s Sinhala English Dictionary says na is “a negative and privative particle.” He lists several compound words with the prefix na. However, the numerous words with the prefix na are condensed, and approximately 50 to 60 words are given below for reference. These compound words with the prefix na originate from the Tamil root al through the transformation of al > a > an > ná > na.
