Sanskrit yád (3)
According to Monier-Williams’ A Sanskrit-English Dictionary, the Sanskrit word yád means “that," a nominative case and accusative case singular in neuter gender and base in compound of ya (3), meaning “the actual base of the relative pronoun in declension.” It traces its origin to the Tamil root karu through the transformation of ān > ya > yád. The following words, related to Sanskrit yád, also originate from Tamil āṉ.
yád-aṡanīya, anything that may be eaten. yád-vṛitta, anything that has occurred, event, adventure.
