Sinhalese viyaṭa (3)

    Clough’s Sinhala English Dictionary says Sinhalese word viyaṭa means “grain.” It traces its origin to the Tamil root arici through the transformation of arici > vrīhí > viyaṭa. The following words, related to Sinhalese viyaṭa, have also originated from Tamil arici.
