Sinhalese oda (2)

    Clough’s Sinhala English Dictionary says Sinhalese word oda means “pride, haughtiness, power, and force.” It also refers to “nectar and pleasure.” It traces its origin to Tamil ākutal through the transformation of ākutal > ójas > oda. The following word, related to oda, also originates from Tamil ākutal.
